Miss Karla Kemerling is our lead teacher and director. She holds a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Ball State University, Muncie, IN and a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Concordia College, Seward, NE. She has taken additional classes at National Louis University in Wheeling, IL in administration. She has served as a Lutheran preschool teacher and director of a childcare or preschool for 15 years in addition to 5 years teaching in Lutheran elementary schools. She has served congregations in Detroit, Canton, Trenton and Dearborn, Michigan, Aurora, Indiana, Cincinnati, Ohio and Glendale Heights, Illinois.
Miss Kemerling decided to become a teacher in 3rd grade when she was inspired by her wonderful teacher, Miss Catherine Zessin. Miss Kemerling loves to sing and teaches the children many songs to help them learn. She is a native of western Illinois. She is the oldest of 5 children and has two grown children, a son-in-law, and two gorgeous grandsons. |

Miss Gabrielle Griner is the Preschool Teacher’s Assistant. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee. She also works at Suncoast Community Church in Sarasota, Florida as the 2nd and 3rd Grade Director of their Sunday morning program.
As a recent college graduate, she discovered her passion teaching children with love and grace, that God as given her. She has wanted to be a teacher for as long as she can remember, volunteering and interning at several schools in Charlotte County and the Metro area of Nashville.

Mrs. Donna Rogers is the cook for Lutheran Child Development Center. She plans the menus and closely follows the Federal Child Nutritional Guidelines. She strives to give the children only the best and most nutritious foods. She also tries to introduce the children to new foods and widen their menu with foods which have different tastes and textures.
In addition, she also serves as the Food Safety Manager for Lutheran Church of the Cross. She has over 30 years of experience in catering and commercial cooking experience. She plans all meals, orders food and organizes volunteers for the many meals that take place at Lutheran Church of the Cross.
Originally from Frankenmuth, Michigan, Donna has also worked as a Master Dental Technician and as a four color printing press operator, in addition to her catering business. She and her husband, Mike, who serves as the custodian at Lutheran Church of the Cross, moved to Port Charlotte in 1984. Although they have no children of their own, they have been actively involved with children over the years as Sunday School teachers, Youth Leaders and Mike’s involvement with the Boys Scouts.
Miss Donna serves as the “Grandmother” figure in the lives of the students at Lutheran Child Development Center. She always has a listening ear, and lots of love to give. Her greatest joy is having the students run to give her hugs when she arrives to prepare the meals for the children. She gives thanks to be blessed by these little ones and considers each of them a special treasure. |
